El Gaucho, the flagship steakhouse in Bangkok, serves various top-notch quality beef cuts with Southern-American cooking style. The most convenient way to come here is by BTS. The décor is kept in dark wooden style. I love this kind of decoration – warm and relax. The first thing you will notice right after arriving is the refrigerator full of beef selection. The staffs were nice and friendly. In this restaurant, I hardly spotted Thai people. Most of their clients are foreigners.
The first thing that was placed on the table was a set of bread which includes 2 types of bread, garlic butter, Argentinian dipping and roasted garlic. The garlic butter was so pleasant and drooling. It went along with bread fabulously. Roasted garlic was doubtlessly magnificent. It was so sweet and tasty. I just want more roasted garlic.
To couple the entire meal, Alta vista premium malbec 2012 was selected by my grandpa. On the palate, it was sweet, smooth and sliky. The aroma consists of ripe berries, plum and tobacco but still lacks of complexity. The best choice to pair with top quality Argentinian beef indeed!!
Grilled thin slices of USDA New York striploin steak with lemon and olive oil was served as appetizer. The striploin was supremely juicy and flavorful. The lemon gave freshness to this dish which improves the beef flavor really well.
Home-made cheese and bacon burger was served accordingly. The beef patty was extremely juicy, tasty and yummilicious. The grilled bacon gave this dish another dimension of texture. The sauce did not overwhelm the beef flavor which was great. It was far better than the famous Daniel tiger or Escapade. Seriously, you get what you pay for!!!
This is the highlight for tonight!!! It was grilled rib eye steak USDA prime. No need additional dipping or sauce, it was already wonderful by itself. All I can say is try it yourself. This is the way that a good beef should be!!! To pair to beef, I chose macaroni and cheese. It was not over creamy.
To end the meal, hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream and flan caramel were served. The flan caramel was smooth and pleasant. The caramel sauce was great. Overall, it was nice at the ordinary level. The next dessert was hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream. The chocolate cake texture was too hard. It was over-baked, perhaps but the vanilla ice-cream turned to be super delicious. It presented strong scent of vanilla. I spotted vanilla beans in the ice-cream.
After I finished both desserts, a staff poured me a shot of cold home-made caramel cello to clean up my palate. It was one of the best caramel cellos I have ever had. It was so pleasant, complex and sweet. Love it love it love it.
